How to Let Claude Schedule a Webhook for Later

To let Claude schedule a webhook for later, connect the RunLater MCP server at https://runlater.app/api/mcp, then ask in plain words: “POST this to my webhook on December 1 at 9am New York time.” Claude creates the schedule with a tool call and RunLater sends the request at that time, so the chat can be closed by then.

1. Connect RunLater to Claude

In Claude Code, run this, then run /mcp and choose runlater to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user runlater https://runlater.app/api/mcp

In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, use the one-click connector link, or go to Customize, Connectors, + Add, Add custom connector and paste the URL. You sign in with an emailed link and click Allow. Setup for Cursor, VS Code, Codex and others is on the MCP server page.

2. Start the trial

Connecting needs no plan, but creating a schedule does. Without one, the tool answers with a link for you to pick a plan and start the 14-day trial (card at checkout, nothing charged before day 14). Then ask again.

3. Ask for what you want

  • “Post 'Standup in 10 minutes' to this Slack webhook on December 1 at 9am New York time.”
  • “Call my report endpoint every weekday at 7am London time, with a 2 minute timeout.”
  • “Send this JSON to my Zapier catch hook 45 days from now.”

For the first one, Claude calls the schedule_request tool with something like this:

{
  "url": "https://hooks.slack.com/services/T000/B000/XXXX",
  "method": "POST",
  "body": "{\"text\": \"Standup in 10 minutes\"}",
  "run_at": "2026-12-01T09:00:00",
  "timezone": "America/New_York"
}

RunLater returns the schedule with its id, status scheduled and next_run_at in UTC (2026-12-01T14:00:00.000Z here). Read that time back before you move on. It is the quickest way to catch a wrong time zone.

4. Check that it ran

Ask “did that webhook work?” in any later conversation. Claude reads the run log with get_schedule: status code, duration, error and a preview of the response. RunLater does not message you or Claude when a run fails, so a run only comes up when someone looks. The same log is under Logs in the dashboard.

Limits

  • The URL must be public. Private and local addresses are refused, so Claude can't schedule a call to localhost.
  • A one-time run can be at most two years ahead. Cron has 5 fields and runs at most once a minute.
  • At most 30 headers and a 64 KB body. GET and DELETE are sent without a body.
  • Up to 10 retries (default 3) and a timeout of up to 300 seconds (default 30).
  • Header values are never shown back by RunLater, but a token you type in the chat is in that conversation. To keep it out, create the request in the dashboard.

Starter is $15/month for 250 scheduled requests and 25,000 runs. Team is $39 (1,000 and 100,000) and Pro is $149 (5,000 and 500,000). Start the 14-day trial and connect Claude in a few minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Does Claude have to stay open for the webhook to send?

No. Claude only creates the schedule. RunLater stores it and sends the request at the set time on its own servers, so the conversation can be closed and your computer can be off.

Does Claude find out when the webhook runs?

Only when asked. RunLater does not message Claude or you after a run. Ask in any later conversation and Claude reads the status code and response from the run log with the get_schedule tool.

Can Claude schedule a request to localhost?

No. Private and local addresses are refused because RunLater calls the URL from its own servers. The URL has to be public.

Can a RunLater schedule start Claude later?

RunLater only sends HTTP requests, so it can start Claude when something exposes a URL for that. A Claude Code cloud scheduled task with an API trigger has one.

Is there a free plan?

No. Connecting Claude needs no plan, but creating a schedule does. Picking a plan starts a 14-day trial, and Starter is $15/month for 250 scheduled requests and 25,000 runs.
